Career Day teaches Rising Sun members hard work, video games
The Rising Sun Youth Club will host the owner of a video game business on a career day event planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the old Colbert school gymnasium.

Matt Hewett, the owner of Play N Trade in Oconee County, will talk to club members about his business.
Rising Sun director Jess Croya said several people have talked about their jobs at these career day events, among them the local sheriff, a fire chief and a nurse. Next month he plans to have a man who designs video games speak and in coming months an emergency medical technician.
"It introduces them to people who have been successful and gives them a point of view," Croya said. "You don't often get things like this in high school or middle school."
The club reaches out to disadvantaged youths, some steered toward the program by teachers or church pastors.
Rising Sun has obtained the use of the old Comer school gymnasium, but that facility is in the process of being renovated before the club moves there.
Hewett said he met Croya at his store on Epps Bridge Parkway.
"He's very passionate about his kids and we've discussed many times what me and a couple of business owners can do to help him and one of the things we came up with is a career day," Hewett said.
